Best in Show…again!

When Mandela won Best In Show last year I thought it was "once in a lifetime", as the Chow Chow has no history of these results in Denmark. But little did I know. At DKKs international show in Vejen 11st June 2017 Mandela went all the way and won Best In Show ... again!

A truly exceptional performance for the breed – and Mandela contributes to writing recent Danish Chow Chow history. I’m so proud of him.Chow Chow Hjelme Piuk Chow Possesses Black Passion og Stine Hjelme

The road to victory

We started the day with the breed competition by the Norwegian judge Anne Indergaard, who awarded Mandela Best Of Breed and sent him off to the Group competition. Here he took the Finnish judge Kirsi Honkanen by storm and she granted him the victory in Group 5 – and to notice, over the dog which the previous day had won Best In Show.

Group 5 was the last competition before Best In Show, so unfortunately there was no rest for Mandela. It was down from the podium and out of the ring of honor just to enter it again as the representative of Group 5.

Mandela did it very well and showed super, although I could feel he started getting a little tired. However, that was not visible to Dutch judge Rony Doedjiens who chose Mandela among the four dogs to be placed. As last time I was proud to win a Best In Show placement, but I did not consider it to be as number 1. It was therefore a big and happy surprise when the Chow Chow was announced as the winner!

Imagine that - he did it again. 2,397 dogs were entered at the show and Mandela was the best of them all :-)
